Treasures

In the series "Treasures," Ola Suprun explores an inheritance that can be neither seen nor held. These are not objects hidden away in a great wooden chest. Treasures are love passed down, faith in a person, words of support, the best wishes of fate, and a sense of safety — above all, the safety of being oneself.

The works feature familiar images — roses, embroidery, Opillya flowers, a dark velvet background. These are not ethnographic illustrations or attempts to recreate the past. They are symbols of an invisible inheritance that we carry within us for life.

The series raises the question of what exactly we inherit from previous generations. Is it only traditions and objects that are passed down, or also an inner foundation, faith in oneself, and the capacity to move forward.

At the same time, this series is about freedom. A true inheritance does not force us to repeat the lives of our ancestors. It gives us the strength to choose our own path, even when that path differs from what was expected of us.
